Alessandro

For more than 4 years he’s been responsible for the technical deliveries of a product team at IKEA.com, first as the tech lead and later as the engineering manager. During the time under Alessandro's coordination, the products have evolved from small tools into a full fledged strategical co-worker platform for SEO optimisation. He has overlooked the team's engineering roadmap and has contributed to better technology by migrating the systems into Cloud Run (serverless) and by consolidating all data into MongoDB Atlas. His focus now is on helping others to become better software developers and leaders. He prioritises coaching, pair-programming and mentorship to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement. At IKEA, he advocates for inclusivity and cooperation, aiming to foster innovation and to exceed customer expectations.

Scrum Master and technical contact for an international customer under his first year, at Playscan (Svenska Spel) he has contributed to a more dynamic web interface and analysed customers’ data to highlight risky behaviours and to create life-saving actions. On the technical side, he has led the team through planning and implementing the migration to Docker and Kubernetes, and has pushed to transition from JavaScript to TypeScript.

As a consultant, Alessandro has worked on his first assignment as a front-end developer with React and JavaScript, learning to practise Test Driven Development while helping the team to understand the value of well tested code. His second assignment was in Java, alongside a series of learning sessions about code katas, refactoring and pair-programming. Apart from his daily work, he has taken lead in Cygni’s skills development program and helped his fellow consultant colleagues to prepare for different certificates. He has also led a series of lessons on AWS and held a 30 min presentation about Ansible.

At Avero he was tasked to create a completely new web tool to draw glass railings on a website, which he delivered in time using JavaScript and PHP. He then proceeded to create 2 different order management systems in collaboration with the customer service team, to help them supervise order status, change its content, manage invoices, sync with delivery service and communicate with the customers, while he was also in charge of the IT infrastructure and technical support for an office of 60 people.

At Coop Italia, Alessandro was part of an external team of consultants responsible for suppliers' orders and shelves' campaigns management tool, where most of his work was aimed at optimising queries and stored procedures inside the company's Oracle DB cluster, to build the coworkers' interface to the same datasets, or to provide coworkers with ad-hoc data extractions and aggregations for insights and strategical decisions.
